Recalibrating to Your Goals Mid-Year: A Guide for Women Entrepreneurs

Updated: Jul 8

Double Your Revenue in 90 Days

Can you believe we’re already at the mid-year mark? Time flies when you’re building empires, right? This is the perfect moment to hit the pause button, reflect, and recalibrate those ambitious goals you set at the beginning of the year.

Let’s dive into why mid-year goal-setting is crucial and how you can master this art to stay on track and keep slaying those business dreams.

Why Mid-Year Goal Setting is Essential

First off, let’s talk about why goals tend to drift as the year progresses. We start January with fireworks and resolutions, but by June, it’s easy to lose sight of our targets. Life happens, distractions creep in, and motivation can wane. Here are some common culprits:

Internal Factors:

  • Loss of Motivation: Initial excitement wears off, reducing enthusiasm and drive. The honeymoon phase is over, and the lack of visible progress can lead to discouragement.

  • Overwhelm and Burnout: Setting overly ambitious goals without considering practical limitations can lead to burnout, especially when juggling multiple responsibilities.

  • Lack of Clarity and Direction: Vague or poorly defined goals make it difficult to maintain focus, and an absence of a clear action plan can lead to confusion.

  • Negative Self-Talk and Doubt: Internal criticism and self-doubt can undermine confidence. Fear of failure or past negative experiences creates mental barriers.

  • Complacency and Comfort Zones: Achieving initial success can lead to reduced efforts, causing you to stay within your comfort zone rather than challenge yourself.

External Factors:

  • Changing Priorities: Life events such as career changes, new business opportunities, family obligations, or health issues can shift your focus.

  • Environmental Distractions: Everyday distractions like social media consume time and attention. An unorganized environment disrupts productivity.

  • Lack of Support and Accountability: The absence of a support system or accountability partner can hinder progress. Isolation can decrease motivation.

  • Resource Constraints: Limited time, money, or skills can impede progress. Unexpected obstacles can drain resources and energy.

  • Health and Well-Being Issues: Physical or mental health issues can reduce energy levels, making it difficult to stay focused and motivated.

Recognizing these factors is the first step towards reclaiming your focus and getting back on track. Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty of recalibrating your goals mid-year.

10 Steps to Reclaribrating to Your Goals

Step 1: Reflect and Reassess

Grab a cup of your favorite beverage, a cozy spot, and your goal list. It’s reflection time!

  • Review Your Goals: Dust off that list of goals. Are they still relevant? Do they align with where you are now and where you want to be?

  • Evaluate Progress: Celebrate your wins, big and small. Identify what’s worked and what hasn’t. This isn’t about beating yourself up; it’s about learning and adjusting.

Reflecting on your progress helps you understand what’s working and what needs to change. For example, one of my clients was in a funk at the beginning of the fourth quarter last year. I had her review her actions and emotions throughout the year to recalibrate her mindset and strategy. This helped her replicate positive energy and learn from negative experiences.

Step 2: Reframe Your Mindset

Your mindset is your most powerful tool. Let’s give it a tune-up!

  • Adopt a Growth Mindset: Challenges are growth opportunities. Setbacks? They’re just lessons in disguise. Use them as learning experiences.

  • Positive Affirmations: Boost your confidence with daily affirmations like “I am capable of achieving my goals” and “Every day, I make progress.”

Reframing your mindset helps you stay positive and focused. For instance, during goal-setting sessions, I use logical levels of change to connect my clients’ goals to their higher purpose. This trickles down into their self-identity, beliefs, habits, and skills, reinforcing their commitment.

Step 3: Refocus on Your Vision

Reconnect with your “why.” This is the heart of your motivation.

  • Clarify Your Why: Why did you set these goals in the first place? Reignite that passion.

  • Visualization: Spend a few minutes each day visualizing your success. See it, feel it, believe it.

Visualization is a powerful tool. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between what’s real, imagined, or remembered. By visualizing your success, you direct your subconscious mind to find the resources you need to achieve your goals.

Step 4: Set Short-Term Milestones

Big goals can be overwhelming. Break them down into bite-sized pieces.

  • Break Down Goals: Divide larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks. Short-term milestones are your best friends.

  • Blend Emotion and Logic: When you set goals with pure logic only, you can overreact with emotion when things don’t go the way you want.

I recommend the book The 12-Week Year, which shortens your goals to a 12-week span. This creates a sense of urgency and prevents loss of momentum. Inside the Profitable CEO Accelerator, we use this method to set short-term milestones and review our plans every 30 days.

Step 5: Create a Detailed Action Plan

Now that you have your milestones, it’s time to map out the journey.

  • Daily and Weekly Plans: Outline your daily and weekly tasks. Prioritize what moves the needle the most.

  • Time Management: Techniques like the Balanced Workweek Framework can help maintain focus and productivity.

Balance your action plan with flexibility. Use the Balanced Workweek Framework: have a CEO Day for planning, a Goddess self-care day for rest and reflection, and a Doer Day for taking action. This helps you manage different energies and stay on track.

Step 6: Build Accountability

Accountability keeps you honest and motivated.

  • Accountability Partner: Find someone to check in with regularly. Share your progress and challenges.

  • Track Your Progress: Use a journal like the Profitability and Productivity Planner or a digital tool to track achievements. Reflect and adjust as needed.

Join a supportive community or program like the Profitable CEO Accelerator. Regular check-ins and support can make a big difference in staying motivated and on track.

Step 7: Enhance Your Environment

Your environment plays a big role in your productivity.

  • Optimize Workspace: Declutter and organize your workspace to minimize distractions.

  • Surround Yourself with Positivity: Engage with supportive people. Avoid negative influences like the plague.

Enhance your workspace with elements that inspire you. Declutter, organize and even use scents like palo santo to create a focused and productive environment.

Step 8: Practice Self-Care

Your goals need a healthy you to bring them to life.

  • Physical Health: Exercise, eat healthily, and get enough sleep.

  • Mental Health: Incorporate stress-reducing activities like meditation, EFT, mindfulness, and hobbies you enjoy.

Physical well-being significantly impacts mental clarity and energy levels. Make self-care a priority to stay energized and motivated.

Step 9: Stay Flexible and Adaptable

Life is unpredictable. Flexibility is key.

  • Embrace Change: Be willing to adjust your plans as circumstances evolve.

  • Continuous Learning: Invest time in learning new skills that support your goals.

Flexibility allows you to navigate unexpected challenges without losing sight of your goals. Embrace change and remain open to new opportunities and solutions.

Step 10: Celebrate Milestones

You’re making progress—celebrate it!

  • Reward Yourself: Celebrate achievements, no matter how small.

  • Reflect on Success: Regularly reflect on your progress. It reinforces your commitment and boosts your morale.

Celebrating milestones boosts motivation and reinforces positive behavior. It tells your subconscious mind that you’re a winner, motivating you to keep pushing forward.

Mid-year is a powerful checkpoint for women entrepreneurs to recalibrate and align their goals. By understanding why goals drift and implementing these steps, you can reignite your passion, refocus your efforts, and ensure continued progress toward your aspirations.

So, take a deep breath, reflect, and recalibrate. Your future self will thank you for it. Stay committed, stay focused, and most importantly, stay aligned.
