Ever feel like you're caught in an endless loop of chaos and resistance, even after you've done all the mindset work?
You're not alone, my friend. This exhausting cycle is more common than you think, especially for us high-achieving women entrepreneurs juggling big dreams with a big life.
You’ve done the journaling. You’ve recited the affirmations. You’ve reprogrammed the beliefs.
But something’s still off.
That ease you crave still feels fleeting. Your results still feel inconsistent. And deep down, your body still feels wired for the hustle.
This blog is your permission slip and playbook. Let’s unpack why mindset work alone isn’t enough to create abundance, how to know if your body is addicted to struggle, and what you can do today to shift into overflow for good.
The "Mind-Body Mismatch" to Abundance
You can believe you’re worthy of overflow with every fiber of your conscious mind.
But if your body is still calibrated to chaos, it won’t feel safe receiving it.
This is what I call the mind-body mismatch.
It’s when your thoughts say, "I deserve more," but your nervous system says, "That sounds dangerous."
Your brain may have reprogrammed beliefs about worthiness, money, or success, but your body still remembers years (or decades) of operating in survival mode. The late nights. The emotional stress. The push-push-push.
And because your nervous system prefers familiarity over expansion, it will default to what it knows: struggle.
That’s why you might find yourself procrastinating when things finally feel good, doubting your next step, or self-sabotaging after a breakthrough.
The Addiction to the Chase
Yes, addiction.
Because struggle can actually create a chemical high.
Every time you hustle to meet a deadline, close a sale at the last minute, or spiral in overwhelm, your body releases stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. These chemicals create a feeling of urgency, focus, and even power.
It’s a temporary surge that mimics motivation but long term, it trains your body to associate success with stress.
Over time, this becomes a default setting. A loop.
So when things feel calm, it doesn’t feel right. It feels boring. Unproductive. Unsafe.
This is why high-capacity women often:
Fill white space in their calendar with "just one more task"
Struggle to relax, even on vacation
Hit an income milestone and immediately feel anxious
Experience feast-or-famine patterns in business
If you’ve ever thought, "When things feel too good, I start looking for the problem," you’re not crazy. You’re just biochemically trained to crave chaos.
Signs Your Body Is Addicted to the Struggle Cycle
Here are the sneaky signs your body might be addicted to struggle that no one has told you about:
You say you want ease but fill every pocket of free time with work.
You get sick or burnt out immediately after a big success.
You need stress to focus.
You resist structure but feel anxious without it.
You overcommit, then resent the workload.
You feel “guilty” when resting or doing less.
These aren’t mindset issues. These are nervous system patterns that need to be gently rewired.
Overflow Requires Safety—Not Sacrifice
Here’s your new success standard:
Overflow is my baseline, not my reward for suffering.
Your nervous system can only allow in what it believes is safe.
This is why nervous system regulation is just as important as strategy or mindset. Because if your body doesn’t feel safe in ease, it will recreate struggle just to stay comfortable.
This doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means you’re human.
The Role of the Nervous System
Let’s break it down:
When you’re in a high-stress state (aka chronic Beta), your body believes there’s danger.
Your prefrontal cortex shuts down (so decision-making tanks).
Your creativity goes offline.
You operate from habit, not possibility.
On the flip side, when you intentionally shift into Alpha or Theta states (through breathwork, movement, visualization, or grounding), your body enters a receptive state. This is where ease, clarity, and momentum live.
Think of it like this:
CEO Day = activates Alpha (strategy)
Goddess Day = nourishes Theta (creativity)
Doer Day = channels Beta (execution with intention)
The more you regulate, the easier it is to receive.
5 Steps to Break the Struggle Cycle
1. Get Curious, Not Critical
Start with awareness. Notice when you’re defaulting to stress or chaos. Ask: "What does this part of me believe it’s protecting me from?"
2. Use Nervous System Tools Daily
Try:
Breathwork (4-7-8 technique)
EFT tapping
Walking in nature
Cold exposure or vagus nerve massage
3. Redefine Rest as a Revenue Strategy
Create space in your calendar for your brain to downshift. Remember: rest recalibrates your ability to lead, sell, and scale.
4. Practice Receiving Without Earning
Let someone help you. Accept a compliment. Raise your prices. Don’t apologize for it.
5. Rewire Your Identity
This is what we do inside Your 6-Figure Year: we reprogram your identity at the subconscious level so your default setting becomes abundance, not struggle.
